Steven James Anderson was born in Austin, Texas on December 18, 1964. His parents are James and Beverly Anderson. Austin’s parents divorced when he was one year old, and he moved with his mother to Victoria, Texas. He has three brothers and a younger sister.
Growing up, Austin spent most of his time in Edna, Texas. He finished his studies from Edna High School and got a football scholarship at Wharton County Junior School. Another full scholarship followed. This time around it was at the University of North Texas.

They held the title for five years.
Austin later betrayed Pillman after he returned to the ring after a break due to injury. Steve fought Pillman and defeated him in a single match at Clash of the Champions XXV. He joined WWE in late 1995 with his debut match on January 15, 1996. He rose to stardom and had a good run through his career in the ring.
