Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle was born on March 6, 1969, in San Francisco, to her parents Anthony “Tony” Guilfoyle and Mercedes. She was raised in the Mission District and Westlake. Guilfoyle attended the University of California, Davis and completed her graduation in magna cum laude.
In 1994, she received her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law. During her law school, she interned at the San Francisco district attorney’s office. Later, she studied at Trinity College, Dublin which is located in Ireland.
Guilfoyle got married to Gavin Newsom in 2001, who was then a San Francisco city supervisor. She chose the name Kimberly Guilfoyle Newsom when she married Newsom. Guilfoyle started her career as a prosecutor in San Francisco after the completion of her law school. But in 1996 she lost the job when Terence Hallinan was elected as District Attorney. Then she started working as a Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles for the next four years while working on adult and juvenile cases such as sexual assault, robbery, domestic violence, narcotics, and kidnapping cases.
In 2000, Guilfoyle was re-hired by Hallinan in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, where she worked as an Assistant District Attorney for 4 years. In the case People v. Noel and Knoller she earned a conviction while co-prosecuting with James Hammer.
In 2004, she ventured into the television series and films. She appeared in the film entitled Happily Even After which was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival. In February 2006, Guilfoyle started working in the Fox News as a host for the weekend show named The Lineup.
