Gerald Norman Springer was the real name of Jerry Springer was born on February 13, 1944, in London, England, to Richard Springer and Margot. He was born in the underground station of Highgate as it was used as a shelter at that time.
He was raised on Chandos Road, East Finchley. His father was the owner of a shoe shop while his mother was a bank clerk. In January 1949, Springer and his family shifted to the United States and finally settled in Queens, New York.
He got enrolled in the Tulane University, which is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned a degree of Bachelor of Arts in political science. He also earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Northwestern University in 1968.
On June 16, 1973, Springer got married to Micki Velton. The couple was blessed with a single child daughter named Katie Springer in 1976. Unfortunately, they got separated in 1994. He tends to keep his personal life more private.

Springer started his career as a campaign adviser to Robert Kennedy after completing his law degree. But Kennedy got killed shortly afterward. Later, he decided to work on the political ideology of Kennedy and started working at Frost & Jacobs law firm which is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
While he was still working at the law firm Springer became the leader of the movement to lower the voting age from 21 to 18. In 1970, he ran for his own career in Ohio and got defeated by the Donald Clancy who was already established, Republican Politician.
In 1974, Springer was forced to resign from the council over a controversy involving prostitution. He cleared his name in the press and regained his seat at the next election. He served as a mayor for two terms. In 1982, he contested for the position of Governor of Ohio but unfortunately, he failed to win the nomination.
In the same year, he signed as a political reporter and commentator with Cincinnati NBC affiliate, WLWT. Springer was named as a chief anchor and managing editor for his steady success at the channel. He became No.1 news anchor of Cincinnati after two years.
He hosted for a late night talk show entitled Late Night with Jerry Springer which is a David Letterman-style talk show in the UK for Channel 5, from 2000 to 2001.
