David attended Wayzata High School and he loved art and design from an early age. He therefore decided to be a professional Design animator and he joined Ringling College of Art and Design located in Sarasota, Florida to make his dream come true.

His company is known as Bromstad Studio and majors in designing fantasy bedrooms for children.
The success of Bromstad Studio challenged him to start up something new and he decided to try out for a reality show. He entered into a competition with nine other potential designers. He won the competition and was not only rewarded with a car but also an opportunity of hosting his own show (Color Splash) on HGTV which debuted in March 2007.
