Thalia was born in Mexico City, Mexico on 26 August 1971 to her parents Ernesto Sodi Pallares and Yolanda Miranda Mange. Her father was a scientist, and a writer and her mother was a painter. She is the youngest among the other four sisters Federica, Ernestina Sodi, Laura Zapata and Gabriela. At the age of one, she appeared on a Mexican television commercial.
When Thalia was four years old, she started learning piano and ballet at the “National Conservatory of Music of Mexico”.
