Joseph Bruce (Violent J) was born on April 28, 1972, in Berkley, Michigan to his parents Linda and Richard Bruce. When he was just two years of old, his father took all his family’s money and left home. He is the youngest among his other two siblings Robert and Theresa Bruce. His mother worked as a janitor in order to feed the family.
