Mitch McConnell got a drafting in the United States Army Reserve after he had completed studying law. He then got discharged from the army five weeks while on training due to medical grounds. Mitch later became the Deputy Assistant Attorney General through which he worked with Gerard R. Ford and Antonin Scalia. He got elected in the year 1977 as the Jefferson County Judge/Executive and re-elected again in the year 1981. Following his popularity, he decided to run for a political seat in the United States Senate through which he was against a Democrat by the name Walter Dee Huddleston.
