Jesse Louis Jackson Sr. was born in October 1941, in Greenville, South Carolina. He is the son of Noah Louis Robinson and Helen Burns. His mother was only sixteen years old at the time of his birth. His father was a boxer and also used to work in a textile brokerage. Later his mother got married to Charles Henry Jackson, who happened to adopt Jesse.
He used to get taunted when he was a child by other children. He went to Sterling High School located in Greenville. He was active in basketball, baseball, and football.
