Robert Alan Durst was born on April 12, 1943, in New York City, New York, the United States. His father Seymour Durst was a famous real estate investor and his mother Bernice Herstein was an American socialite. Robert has three siblings namely Douglas, Tommy, and Wendy Durst. Durst was said to be diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was ten years old. He attended the Scarsdale High School and later studied Economics at the Lehigh University.
Personal Life
Durst married his first wife Kathleen McCormack on April 12, 1973, on his 30th birthday. Kathleen went missing on January 31, 1982, and there were many allegations that Durst killed her as their relationship was not going well. Durst filed a missing case about his wife, and the police investigation went in vain as nothing turned around in the case. The family of Kathleen wanted the police to declare that their daughter as dead and tried to sue Durst with a $100 million for the murder. The case is still a mystery as neither her corpse nor she is found alive yet.
On December 11, 2000, Durst married Debrah Lee Charatan. He once told that it was a marriage of convenience. Throughout his life, Durst has projected himself to be a mystery man who seems to be affected mentally.
