Early Life & Biography
George Jacob Jung was born in August 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is also nicknamed as “El Americano” and “Boston George”. His parents were Ermine Jung and Frederick Jung. He grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
George went to Weymouth High School and graduated in 1961. He was a very good football player and was often described as a “natural leader”. Later, he went to the University of Southern Mississippi to study advertising but dropped out soon.
In 1977, George Jung got married to Mirtha Jung. The couple divorced after seven years of marriage when George was in prison. They have a daughter named Kristina Sunshine Jung. His relationship with his daughter was shown in the movie ‘Blow’. It has been reported that his daughter has not forgiven him and due to this their relationship has fiddled. He was first arrested for solicitation prostitution by an undercover police officer.

George Jung thought of making huge profits by dealing with cannabis after meeting an old friend. He used to bring the cannabis from California to New England. In the beginning, his girlfriend who was a stewardess used to transport the drugs. He later expanded his operation and used to fly the drugs from Mexico’s Puerto Vallarta. Jung used to do it using stolen airplanes from private sectors. During that, he and his associates used to make $250,000 in a month.
In 1974, he was arrested for smuggling marijuana worth 300 kg. His sentence was reduced as there were others too who were involved in this. His cellmate at FCI Danbury was Carlos Lehder Rivas, who later introduced him to international drug-trafficking dealer Medellin Cartel. He was released in 1975 and later became a middleman in the cocaine supply from Colombia. He used to make millions with these deals and to avoid money laundering, Jung used to keep the money in Panama’s national bank.
He continued with his operations in the 1970s and early ‘80s. He was again arrested in 1987 and in 1994. He was given a 60-year sentence however, he got released in November 2014. Jung was under parole and was again arrested in 2016 for parole violation. He got released in July 2017. Following his release from prison, he contributed in the single of “Heavy” for director Michael Cimino.
