Early Life & Biography
Slash was born as Saul Hudson in Hampstead, London, England on July 23rd, 1965. His mother Ola J. Hudson was a costume designer and his father Anthony Hudson is an artist who created album covers. Slash moved to Los Angeles when he was five, as his mother had to move to the city for work. His parents got separated when he was nine and Slash opted to live with his mother. He was nicknamed Slash by actor Seymour Cassel as he was always in a hurry switching between things.
Slash was initially married to Renee Suran, an actress, and a model. After five years of marriage, the couple divorces in 1997 after which Slash married Perla Ferrar in 2001 in Hawaii. The couple has two sons London Emilio and Cash Anthony. The couple got separated in 2014 and Slash went on to date his then-girlfriend Meegan Hodges, whom he dated in the early 1990s. In 1983, Slash formed a band named Road Crew with his friend Steven Adler which they both dismantled the next year and joined the band, Hollywood Rose. In 1985, they joined a newly formed band Guns N’ Roses and performed in various nightclubs. The band was well known around the surroundings and eventually signed for Geffen Records in 1986.
Guns N’ Roses released its debut album Appetite for Destruction in 1987. Until 2008, over 28 million copies of the album have been sold worldwide making it the most sold debut album in the US history. In 1991, the band released two albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II which went on to top the US Chart.
In 1994, Slash founded a side project titled Slash’s Snakepit and released Its Five O’ Clock Somewhere in 1995. In 2002, he formed the band Velvet Recorder and released two albums with the band, the first album being Contraband and the second one Libertad.
