Early Life & Biography
Lindsey Stirling was born on September 21, 1986, to Stephen Stirling and Diane Stirling. Stirling has one elder sister and a younger sister and spent her childhood in Gilbert, Arizona. Her parents were not financially well off, and they could only afford her violin teacher some small amount of money which eventually left her with learning only half lessons.
Lindsey started to take violin classes when she was 5 and completed her high school at the Mesquite High School where she was a member of the band Stomp on Melvin. Her performance those days brought her the title Arizona’s Junior Miss and the Spirit Award at America’s Junior Miss Finals.
Stirling studied filmmaking at the Brigham Young University and later served as a missionary for the LDS Church in New York. During the filming of her video Crystallize, she fell in love with Devin Graham, a cinematographer who attended the same university and the church of Lindsey. The couple dated for a relatively short period and later ended their relationship. Lindsey also holds a BSC degree in recreation management.

Stirling started her own YouTube channel in 2007 under the name lindseystomp. In 2010, she participated in the reality TV show America’s Got Talent playing hip hop, pop, and classical music on the violin. She finished as a quarterfinalist of the show and was approached by cinematographer Devin Graham to collaborate for a music video.
The duo shot their first video for Lindsey’s song Spontaneous Me and the video was well received by the audience over social media.
