Eddie Van Halen was born on January 26, 1955, in Nijmegen, Netherlands. His official names are Edward Lodewijk Van Halen. His parents were Jan Van Halen who was a pianist, clarinetist & Saxophonist and Eugenia Van Halen. Eddie had an older brother Alex Van Halen.

The family migrated to the US in 1962 when Eddie was seven years old. The brothers started learning music at an early age where they were taught classical piano lessons by a senior man in San Pedro.

His marriage to Valarie came to an end in December 2005 when she filed for a divorce which was finalized on March 2007. He married his publicist Janie Liszewski later that year.
