Suroosh Alvi was born on March 26, 1969, in Toronto, Ontario to Pakistani parents. His mother Sajida S. Alvi is a professor at McGill University where she teaches Mughal and Islamic history. His father, Sabir A. Alvi, is also a psychology professor at the University of Toronto. Alvi completed his college from the McGill University where he studied psychology.

Suroosh Alvi started his career in the year 1994 when he launched “VICE” along with his business partner Shane Smith and Gavin McInnes in Montreal.
