Early Life & Biography
His original names are David Jason Muir, born in New York, the U.S. his birth date is November 8 1973. He is the son of Pat Mills and Ronald Muir. He has a sister by the name of Rebecca Muir and two step-siblings who are younger than him. He grew up in Onondaga Hill.
He attended Onondaga Central Junior and Senior high school for his elementary studies. He then proceeded to Park School of Communication from where he attained a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. He graduated in 1995. He enrolled at the Georgetown University at the Institute of political journalism.
Unlike many celebrities nowadays, David’s own life is not known to the public. However, there were rumours of him being gay. He was even thought to be romantically involved with his college and journalist Gio Benitez. The two were seen on several occasions visiting gay bars, prompting the rumours. Muir had a passion for journalism from the word go. His professional career kicked off in 1995 when he landed a job as a reporter and anchor on WTVH-TV located in Syracuse. His significant reporting was on Israel, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, after the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin who was then the Israeli Prime Minister. He got a lot of honours for the reporting and was even voted Syracuse’s ‘Best Local News Anchor.’
He left WTVH in 2000, to go and join WBVB Television in Boston. Here at WTVH he as well won several accolades for his reporting on the tracking the path of the September 11, 2001 hijackers. He joined ABC News in 2003 as a news anchor of the ‘World News Now’ program. He co-anchored many programs on ABC including 20/20 alongside Elizabeth Vargas.
Some of Muir’s notable work at ABC include; reporting on Hurricane Katrina, Israel and Hezbollah war, the BP oil spill in Mexico, Somalia’s famine, he also reported on the mass shooting in Colorado, Aurora among others. In May 2011, David presented the commencement address at the Ithaca College. He delivered a commencement address at the Northeastern University in May 2015. He recently read the same at Wisconsin-Madison University.
