Jo Koy was born on June 2, 1971, to his American father and Filipino mother, Josie Harrison. He attended Spanaway Lake High School Washington and Foss High School in Tacoma. He went for higher studies at the University of Nevada but dropped out to pursue his career as a comedian.
Jo Koy’s mother played an important role to nurture his acting talents. She exhorted him to perform in the School talent shows.
