Adam “King Ad-Rock” Horovitz, Adam “MCA” Yauch and Michael “Mike D” Diamond met while they were teenagers in the New York clubs in which they were raised by families who were friends to each other situated in New York. Together, they then commenced in a hardcore band which was known as the Young and the Useless.
While in this band they had formed they recorded some albums while in their high school such albums which include; Pollywog Stew and a single known as Cooky Puss. Beastie Boys concentrated on their music career after winning a Lawsuit against British Airways which funded them to a great extent. The signed a contract with the Def Jam Records with which they release a single known as ‘She’s On It’ in the year 1985. After this, they then another debut in 1986 which was known as Licensed to III which had some hit singles such as ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’ and ‘Fight for Your Right (to Party).
The Beastie Boys then got much popularity though they had a less respected image. They got bad characters which affected their respect in the media and in the public in which they were even banned from the CBS Records.
Following much challenges, they then moved from New York and went to Los Angeles in which they signed a record contract with Capitol Records. They released an album known as Paul’s Boutique in 1989 which was named after their store. They began being mature though had decreased in popularity. They got back into fame and released other albums such as; Check Yout Head in 1992 after which they formed the Grand Royal Records together with the Grand Royal Magazine in the same year.
Other albums include; III Communication and Same Old Bullshit in 1994, Hello Nasty in 1998 and To the 5 Boroughs on Capital Records in 2004. They closed their Grand Royal record label in the year 2001. The group became inactive in 2012 after the death of Adam Yauch (MCA) due to cancer.
