Jim Kelly was born James Edward Kelly on 14th February 1960 in Pittsburg Pennsylvania. He was however brought up in East Brady which was about sixty miles to the northeast. He attended East Brandy High School where he stood out as a star after winning all-state honors after passing for 44 touchdowns and 3,915 yards. After clearing his senior year, he had an opportunity of playing in the famous Big 33 Football Classic.
He was also good in basketball in high school and managed to score more than 1,000 points with over 30 point games. He also helped his school reach the semifinals in his senior year after earning them 23 points and 20 rebounds.
After clearing from high school, he joined Penn State University after receiving a linebacker scholarship. He joined their football team under coach Joe Paterno but after some time, he started playing for the University of Miami.
Jim Kelly is married to Jill and they have been blessed with two daughters. Jim had a son whom he loved so much but their time together was short as Hunter James Kelly succumbed to death on 5th August 2005 at 8 years old after a long suffering from Krabbe disease. Jim lives in East Aurora, New York together with his wife Jill and two daughters Erin and Camryn.

Jim Kelly started off his professional career at Houston Gamblers where he got involved in a number of competitions. His was picked by the Buffalo Bills as their 14th pick which didn’t auger so well with him but he however took the chance to prove himself. He first signed a contract with the Houston Gamblers and played in a climate-controlled Houston Astrodome game. He gave his best and managed to throw 9,842 yards and 83 touchdowns breaking a USFL record.
From Houston Gamblers, Kelly joined New Jersey Generals who immediately stated him as their starting quarterback. However, the group collapsed before he could even play with them. This is when he finally joined his dream team (Buffalo Bills) and helped them win four consecutive Super Bowl appearances and six divisional championships.
