Ann-Margret Olsson was born in 1941 on 28th April 28, in Valsjobyn, Jamtland County. She is a daughter to Anna Regina and Carl Gustav Olsson, a native of Ornskoldsvik. When she was young, her father moved to the United States, leaving Margret and her mother behind. Margret’s father took her to Radio City Music Hall the first day she set foot in the United States. The family settled in Wilmette, Illinois. Margaret became a United States citizen in 1949 by naturalization.
