Karl-Heinz Urban was born in Wellington, New Zealand on June 7, 1972. He attended the St Mark’s Church School and appeared in one episode of the television series Pioneer Woman when he was 8. Urban did his high schooling at the Wellington College and joined the Bachelor of Arts Program at the Victoria University of Wellington. He left the course after a year to pursue an acting career and started to act in commercials and theatres.
Urban was in a relationship with makeup artist Natalie Wihongi since 2000, and the couple tied a knot in 2004. They have two sons together namely Hunter and Indiana. Urban named his second son Indiana because he was a big fan of Indiana Jones. The couple separated in June 2014, and Urban has been dating actress Katee Sackhoff since then.
