Jason was born in New Jersey in 1959, September. His father was Alexander B. Greenspan and mother, Ruth Minnie. He has two step-siblings, Karen Van and Michael Greenspan.
He attended Livingston High school and was then joined Boston University. He did not complete his studies and dropped out when he was in his final year. At the start, he wanted to try classical acting, but after the advice of a college professor, he chose to act in comedy.
