Born in October 1939, Mike Ditka is an American footballer. He was born in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. His full name is Michael Dyczko. Since it was hard to call out this Ukrainian surname “Dyczko” in their hometown, they changed it into “Ditka”. He completed his schooling from St. Titus School and later attended the University of Pittsburgh with the help of a football scholarship.
In Aliquippa High School, he was coached by Press Maravich, the head coach. Ditka was known as a three-sport athlete at his high school and continued to be the same throughout college.
