His father Rakesh Roshan, son of music director Roshanlal Nagrath, is a producer/director in Bollywood and his mother Pinky is the daughter of producer/director J. Om Prakash. Hrithik attended the Bombay Scottish School and made his film debut as a child actor when he was six years old in his grandfather’s film Aasha. Hrithik studied commerce at the Sydenham College and worked as an assistant to his father in four of his films from 1987-1997.
